The survival-of-the-fittest dynamic within the industry is no longer a matter of prediction but an ongoing reality. Data indicate that the number of IVD enterprises in China has declined precipitously in recent years:
– In 2023, approximately 2,320 IVD enterprises operated in China. By 2025, this figure had plummeted to roughly 1,530—meaning nearly 800 enterprises (approximately 34%) exited the market within a span of just two years.
– In 2025 alone, as many as 2,319 IVD-related companies were deregistered, compared with a mere 235 newly registered enterprises during the same period—an inverted ratio exceeding tenfold.
– Entering 2026, the reshuffling has continued unabated. In the first quarter, 43 of the 64 domestic listed IVD companies were operating at a loss, representing as much as 64% of the total.
